There are several different types of chainsaws, built for different purposes since there isn't a one style fits all solution. Each type of chainsaw has its pros and its cons, so knowing about each type will allow you to make a more educated decision in picking which type of chainsaw will be appropriate to use for the jobs you are doing. Here are a few different types for you to consider when shopping around.
Electric Powered Chainsaws
These chainsaws are perfect for the smaller jobs around the house like pruning plants, shrubs and small trees. Electric powered chainsaws are a great item for the tool shed because you never have to worry about gas leaks, or buying gas at all, plus the chainsaw is safer since it has no power source unless it is plugged in. Electric powered chainsaws are fairly strong and do a good job, plus they are easy to handle since they are lightweight because they don't require carrying around a gas filled tank.
Gas Powered Chainsaws
These powerful chainsaws are best for the tougher jobs, such as cutting down trees and large branches. But these chainsaws are heavier, and therefore harder to handle, because of the extra weight from the fuel tank which will be holding all the gas powering your chainsaw's engine. They are also portable since they don't have long cords and are less of a hassle to manage since you never have to worry about getting tangled up in the power cord, nor do you have to worry about constantly being in range of a power source.
Cordless Chainsaws
The smallest, lightest, and generally, weakest type of chainsaw, the cordless chainsaw is appropriate for the simplest of jobs such as light pruning. The benefits of a cordless chainsaw though are its portability since they're smaller, lighter, and doesn't need an immediate power source to operate. They are also great for use around the house because they are much quieter than most chainsaws which are noisy and often cause neighbors to complain.
